DATELINE: UKIAH CAMPUS, March 17, 1999
Dear Part-time Faculty Colleague,
- This mid-term edition of the News is brought to you by Leprechauns?
Please join them--
-
- MPFA SOCIAL in Willits!
Friday, March 26 at 5 p.m., at Escape From San Francisco bagels/bakery/coffee
house, at the corner of Main Street and Commercial--two convenient
blocks from the Willits Center of MC. It's inexpensive, and you
just got that big retro check.
-
- MPFA Executive Committee meeting Tuesday, March 23
- 11:30 - 1:00, CTA conference room, Victory Theatre, 306 S.
Main St., Ukiah. Negotiations, business, lunch, whatever. All
MPFA members are invited.
-
- Ukiah part-time office space. Thanks is in order for
the wonderful changes to the part-time office in the East Stalag,
Ukiah. Intrepid MC public relations guy Ross Beck has taken on
the project of cleaning up the East Side neighborhood (his office
is just across the hallway), and got rid of those *#!! old computers,
typewriters, books, junk and whatnot that has accumulated over
the past 14 years. Drop in and be impressed by the sight of useable
desktop space, two semi-functional computers and the airy new
feeling. Ross also has plans to replace the "shelves"
on the outer wall with boxes, where student work can be left
to be picked up. Ross has also volunteered to become the MC bulletin
board monitor. Good luck, Ross!
-
- Volunteer - Maybe this is sounding like a broken record,
but we still need volunteers.
- Scholarship committee - MPFA Scholarship committee
chair Vivian Power (vpower@mendocino.cc.ca.us)
needs a few good part-timers who can give up a few hours to interview
students at the Ukiah campus on Thurdsay, April 1 (no foolin'!)
or Friday April 2 (as Good at it gets!) Drop a note in her mailbox
if you are interested, or call Neill (463-1461).
- Academic senate - Part-timers have two seats on senate,
the faculty body involved with college governance. Laurie Vazquez
(lvazquez@mendocino.cc.ca.us) completes her two-year
term in August, and will be stepping down as our senior senate
representative. Senate meetings take place weekly at college
hour (12:30-1:30) Thursdays on the Ukiah Campus. Drop a note
in Laurie's box, or call Neill (463-1461) to volunteer.
-
- Curriculum committee - Victoria Patterson's (vpatters@mendocino.cc.ca.us)
term on this important college standing committee is up in June.
If you are interested in filling her shoes (not an easy task!)
please drop a note in her mailbox or call Neill (463-1461).
-
- Negotiations - Penelope Laidlow (
plaidlaw@jps.net) should have been recognized for her work
on the negotiating team--she was and is an important part. If
you have suggestions for our '99-'00 contract, pass them along
to Penelope (Lake) or Hans Delyser (Ukiah). It's time!
-
- That's all for now folks.
