Gallery Exhibit: "Chairs"

America's National Parks -

Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone Tour

Bob Alto will be leading this tour to Salt Lake City, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Tetons, Mount Rushmore, Devil Tower Cody, Mamoth Hot Springs, and Denver. The actual 10-day trip is August 3 - 12, 1997. For more information, call Lisa at ComEx, at 468-3063 or Bob Alto, at 468-3038.

Field Ecology of Hawiian Reefs

Jerry DeChaine is leading a ten-day four-island snorkeling tour/course of the Hawaiian Reefs. You will be studying reef, stream and island ecology. You will spend two days each on Oahu and Maui and three days each on Kauai and the Big Island of Hawaii. Training will be provided for first time snorkelers. The tour/course is July 19 - 28, 1997. Current Student Registration For Fall '97 Classes

Current MC students begin registering for Fall '97 classes today. Registration, limited to current students, continues through Friday, 16. Registration hours at Ukiah Campus are 9 A.M. - 7 P.M., Mon - Thu (only til 6 P.M. at Lake and Willits Centers), and 9 A.M. - 3 P.M., Fri., at all three locations.

Symphonic Band Concert

The Mendocino College Symphonic Band will do a joint concert with the Clear Lake High School Concert Band. Nick Biondo is the Director for the Clear Lake High School Band and John Parkinson is the Director for Mendocino College Symphinic Band. The M.C. Brass Quintet, Trombone Quartet Sax Quartet, Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Flute Choir will also perform. This concert is FREE and the public is invited to attend. When: 8 P.M. Where: Center for the Visual and Performing Arts Theatre, Ukiah Campus.

EOPS Picnic

This picnic is for Mendocino College Extended Oppontunity Programs and Services students, faculty and staff to celebrate the end of a good semester and honor EOPS graduates. Bring a potluck dish and your meat to be cooked on the barbecue. (We furnish the barbecue, drinks and dessert.). Bring your families. When: 4 P.M. (Dinner served at 5 pm.) Where: Todd Grove Park, Ukiah.

ComEx School Performance Series: Symphony of Movement

This unique presentation, directed by Leslie Saxon West and performed by Mendocino College dance students, has been created for children. North Coast public elementary school audiences are invited to attend these two performances, which have been made possible through a generous grant from Performance Coatings Inc. Dancers will demonstrate a variety of dance styles including modern, tap and jazz dance, street dance, Hispanic and Hawaiian dance and pantomime. The goal of this presentation is to demonstrate to children the infinite expressive possibilities one can encounter and utilize within the art of dance. The performance will include informative dialogue during the presentation that will help to enhance the meaning of the dances. Special guest performers include Suzette Stiles-Slaughter ("Mimi the Mime"), Boys Street Dance group from SPACE, Ballet Folklorico of Mendocino County, and Serena Miller. When: 10 A.M. and Noon (two performances). Where: The Little Theatre (Room 710), Lowery Library Bldg., Ukiah Campus.

Mendocino College Community Extension and the Ukiah Players Theater present Christopher Sergel's adaptation of "To Kill a Mockingbird." North Coast school audiences will have the opportunity to see this American classic today and on 23. Cost: $4 per student. When: 10 A.M. - Noon. Where: The Ukiah Playhouse, 1041 Low Gap Rd., Ukiah. Mendocino College Tap Dance Class Performance: Tap 'n Beat '97

Join the fun and explore many different styles of tap dance in this student performance, directed by instructor Rec Russel, of the Spring '97 Tap Dance Performance class. This informal evening of tap entertainment will present several different styles of tap utilizing a variety of toe tapping music. This event is FREE and the public is invited to attend. Mendocino College Jazz Band/Ukiah High Jazz Band Performance

The Mendocino College Jazz Band will do a joint concert with the Ukiah High School Jazz Band. Child Development "Moving On" Ceremony

The parents, staff and children of the Child Development Program are celebrating the end of the year by having a potluck and "moving on" ceremony. The ceremony is a graduation of sorts for the children of Mendocino College staff and students who will be attending kindergarten next year. The potluck is at the CDV Center and the ceremony is in the Little Theater from 7 - 8 P.M. If you would like to join in the celebration, call Cathy at 468-3089, and don't forget to bring your favorite dish.

How about that! Your thoughtful instructors have cancelled all of today's classes so that you could have an extra day to study for your finals. Seriously, today is a day for us all to remember those men and women in the armed forces who have given their lives for us.

The Commencement Ceremony begins at 7 P.M. in the Gymnasium. Reminder to '97 graduates: The Academic Senate is hosting a brunch for you, 9:30 - 11 A.M., on the Quad Area.
