to people in Covelo, Willits, Ukiah, Fort Bragg and Mendocino. Those who live in outlying areas may arrange for weekly pick up at points in town. Subscribers will receive weekly boxes for 25 weeks from June through November.What are the advantages of subscribing?
A benefit of buying one's produce directly from a farmer is that the consumer knows the source. The focus of Covelo Organic Vegetables is to provide a bountiful and diverse supply of quality produce to members. Our produce is fresh, tasty and safe. Each week we select the best in-season produce at the farm. We harvest, clean, cool and pack it in a way that will ensure its arrival to our subscribers in excellent condition.
We are certified by CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) and registered organic with the California Dept. of Food & Agriculture. We strive for production in a manner that is healthy for the soil, the consumer and the farmer.
A newsletter accompanies each week's delivery. The purpose of the newsletter is to keep members informed of developments on the farm and to offer some ideas on how to prepare and enjoy the vegetables.
Why Organic?
Covelo Organic Vegetables and Flowers has been delivering produce to families since 1989.
We grow our food organically without pesticides or other chemicals because we believe that organic methods produce the most healthful food, the best soil quality for sustainable yields and the safest conditions for our work environment.We use compost made on our farm, as well as purchased compost and CCOF organically approved materials including fish emulsion, kelp meal, oyster shell flour and soft rock phosphate. Our annual cover crops and system of crop rotation are giving us increased organic matter in our soil and prevent the spread of pests and diseases on our farm.
We Can Deliver Flowers
The flowers we grow on our farm are used to make fresh and dry bouquets for farmers' markets and to supply us with dry flowers for wreathes and dried bouquets. We can provide these to our subscribers, also, if they are special ordered.
Subscriptions
Each box costs $20 per week or $500 for 25 weeks.
Boxes cost $15 per week at the farm or $375 for 25 weeks.
