We now have carrots and Beets...Peppers
and eggplants are about to fruit.Dear people,
We now have the carrots and beets that might have been here two months ago if the rains had let up for a few days. At the same time we started our summer crops this year and now we have green beans beans and more early tomatoes. Peppers and eggplants are about to fruit and corn and watermelons will be weighing in soon, too.
The farmers market in Ukiah this past Saturday was great. It is nice to see some of you there. Next week Juliette Barclay-Levy will be at the market and making a presentation. She has come and bought basil the past two Saturdays. We have a forest of basil that we try to keep trimmed so it won't flower.
The barn building continues with most of the rafters up now and the roofing materials on hand.
My new truck is comfortable and I have enjoyed the air conditioning while driving to Ukiah twice a week and to Mendocino and Fort Bragg on Wednesdays. This week will be our first Friday market in Mendocino.Green beans at their freshest are way better than the frozen, canned or delayed green beans. I like to steam them all and eat half of them with butter and cool the rest to put in salads.
Sincerely,
Tom Palley
