Expect radishes, salad mix and
lettuces next week!

Dear People,

We were able to pinch a few leaves of our 600 basil plants that have a hoophouse for their protection. Strawberries and peas are still the only really abundant produce in the garden now. We can expect radishes, salad mix and lettuces next week.

In just the past month the garden has been transformed from a wet field of tall bell beans to acres of young plants and seedlings. Most of the plantings have been completed. We still have some more melons and watermelons to put out and the winter squash are just getting ready for planting out.

Recently I ordered a booklet about growing in hoophouses. I have been doing this for the past fourteen years, but after this past late wet winter into sping, I can see that it could help us to have much more to offer in the first weeks of our deliveries, if we were to expand what we grow early under covers.

Sincerely

Tom Palley
