|In this photo taken a a decade ago, Susan had just been released from the Alameda county jail in Santa Rita, California.|
On December 19, 1999, Susan and three others were arrested for attempting to "disarm" two A-10 Thunderbolt planes at the Air National Guard Base in Essex, Maryland.
At the trial on March 21- 22, 2000, the judge refused to let the jury hear expert witnesses about the dangers of the depleted uranium used by the A-10 "Warthog." Susan and friends called the trial a sham and refused to participate further. The jury found the defendants guilty of some of the charges.
We have a letter from Susan printed in the Ukiah Daily Journal on April 29, 2000. Susan, writing from Maryland State Prison, explains why she is willing to take a stand against the use of depleted uranium by the U.S. military.
