Disarmament activists occupy bunkers at

Concord Naval Weapons Station near Concord, California

The weapons that the US sends to the pacific rim are loaded from the Concord Naval Weapons Station.  There were nuclear weapons stored here several years ago, when this picture was taken.  The group I was working with was called the Global Peace Farmers and we were determined to convert the weapons station into a farm.  We visited the weapons station many times and planted trees, onions, seeds and shrubs.  We climbed over fences into the deadly force zone and cut through the fence.  But the weapons station did not want to acknowledge that there were nuclear weapons stored there and we were never taken to court. We were, however, taken to jail and held two-three days before being released.
