writers and artists to publish and distribute their work. They
use the World Wide Web, desktop publishing technologies and computerized
DocuTech production to produce our own books and sell them directly
to our readers.The income of the cooperative after expenses are
paid go to the participating writers and artists. At least ten
percent of any profits are donated to non-profit organizations
helping writers and artists. Essential Book Publishers was founded
in 1997 by Roy Morrison after his book We Build the Road As We
Travel: Mondragon A Cooperative Social System went out of print.
This, in addition to long time dissatisfaction with conventional
publishing relationships, led to the founding of Essential Book
